In 2011, Bernard decided to begin the work of mastering himself. He began to intentionally, strategically, effectively study, examine and explore human development, emotional intelligence, existentialism, and their practical, philosophical and theological implications and applications.
Bernard has experience as an Addictions Recovery Training Specialist, Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Outpatient Counselor, Targeted Case Manager, Residential Advisor, and Certified Recovery Specialist. He has a particular passion and expertise with working with disadvantaged populations and believes that social justice is an important component of holistic therapeutic healing. He has interacted with diverse populations including a wide range of ages, as well as, various cultural and socioeconomic lifestyles. Bernard is intentional at providing a non-judgmental and sympathetic atmosphere in which you can safely explore and work through feelings, thoughts, images and beliefs – conscious or unconscious – that may be keeping you stuck.
Bernard is Problem-Focused/Solution-Oriented and offer a holistic, integrative approach to person-centered therapy, family systems work and cognitive behavioral techniques. His professional and personal experiences, as well as education, have prepared and trained him in Christian Interventions and he has the ability to address cognitive, physiological, social and spiritual aspects of clients.
Bernard graduated with a BA in 2015 from Temple University; and his Masters of Arts in Counseling from Missio Seminary (formerly BTS Graduate School of Counseling) in 2018. He is a foodie, a lover of all things arts and culture, museums and literature, as well as, sports. Most importantly, he is a loving father and believer who is continuously growing, evolving and learning. He brings with him past experiences as a celebrity barber/stylist, singing performances with various groups and choirs, modeling, acting work, and a spoken word artist.
